Dear Ajou GSIS students,

Please find attached a notice from the Office of International Affairs regarding 'Social distancing

strengthened in Greater Seoul area – Level 2.5'.

Despite Level 2 social distancing rules in place since Aug. 23, the spread of the COVID-19 shows no

signs of easing. In this regard, the Government is imposing tougher social distancing measures,

Social Distancing Level 2.5, in the greater Seoul area as of August 30th, 2020.

Please refer to the previous notice regarding Social Distancing
(
https://ajou.ac.kr/oia/notice/notice.do?mode=view&articleNo=102303&article.offset=0&articleLimit=10), and read
carefully
for the additional policies to be implemented.

What changes under Social Distancing Level 2.5?

As more convicted cases are found from enclosed areas such as cafes, restaurants, and indoor fitness

centers, the government expanded the list of businesses subject to tougher restrictions.

  • Restaurants, cafes and bakeries in Greater Seoul -- comprising Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi

        Province - can serve customers in-person until 9 p.m.
From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., only take-out and delivery services are allowed.

  • In the case of franchise cafes (such as Starbucks and Twosome Coffee), having food and drinks
inside will be banned and only takeout or delivery services will be available.

  • Operations of fitness centers, golf courses and billiard halls will be suspended.
  • Elementary schools and middle schools in the Seoul metropolitan area already turned to online
    learning.

These new policies will last until Sept. 6th. Therefore, we ask you to follow the guideline and wear the
face masks indoors and outdoors at all times.

Important Guidelines

  • Wear the face masks indoors and outdoors at all times
  • Utilize take-out or delivery rather than dining in
  • No face-to-face gatherings or events
  • No loud singing/praying/talking
  • Minimize duration of stay in enclosed areas
