We are proud to share the exciting news that Mr. LE QUANG KY, a graduate of the International Business Department at Ajou University’s Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS), has won first place in the Roasting category of the 7th World Coffee Championship (WCC), held in Seoul, Korea.

Mr. Le, originally from Buon Ma Thuot in Vietnam’s Dak Lak province—one of the country’s largest coffee-producing regions—grew up surrounded by coffee fields owned and cultivated by his parents. His deep connection to coffee started at a young age and continued through his academic and professional life.

After completing his undergraduate studies in coffee science at Tay Nguyen University, he worked as a coffee quality control specialist at Sucden Vietnam, a global agribusiness firm. In 2015, Mr. Le pursued his passion further by enrolling in the International Business program at Ajou GSIS, where he earned his master’s degree in 2017.

Currently working as an international marketing professional in Korea’s coffee industry, he manages green bean sourcing, quality assessment, and product development. His expertise in roasting played a key role in his WCC victory. He meticulously roasted Ethiopian Guji Uraga beans to highlight their tropical fruit and floral notes, optimizing flavor development with precision and care.

In addition to winning the Roasting division, Mr. Le also placed second in the Brewing category, showcasing his versatile talents in both areas.

Reflecting on his achievement, Mr. Le expressed,

“I’m deeply honored to receive this award. Coffee is more than just a drink—it’s a culture that connects people. I hope to share the richness of Vietnamese coffee culture with Korea and the world.”

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Le for this outstanding achievement and for representing GSIS on the global stage.
