Ajou University President Dong Yeon Kim was honored with the ‘Proud Fulbright Scholarship Alumni Award’ from the Korea Fulbright Scholarship Alumni Association and the Korean-American Educational Commission. President Kim is the first recipient since the Association established the Award.

The Korea Fulbright Scholarship Alumni Association (President In Chul Kim of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies) and the Korean-American Educational Commission (Executive Director Jai Ok Shim) said that it hosted the ‘Fulbright Scholarship Alumni Day’ event on April 25th at the Global Campus of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Yongin and that it presented President Kim and former president of the Korean Bar Association Du Hyeon Kim with ‘Proud Fulbright Scholarship Alumni Awards.’ Former Minister of Education and Science Byeong Man Ahn received the Achievement Award.

The Association said, “President Kim has served as a true civil servant by putting public affairs before his personal matters,” adding, “We present this award in acknowledgement of such merit.”

When he was an official at the then Economic Planning Board, President Kim won a Fulbright Scholarship and received his master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Michigan in the U.S. He then worked as a project manager at the World Bank in Washington, D.C. before serving as a visiting professor at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of Johns Hopkins University under a Fulbright Senior Fellowship.
